Rigid and Soft Bodies

Objective:
Discover what Rigid and Soft bodie dynamics are and how they work in animation.

Method:
Dynamics are a very in-depth and complex process. The following tutorials will introduce you to Rigid and Soft bodies. Work through them, but also learn as much as you possibly can about the other types of dynamics to help you with your future projects.

Post progress snaps every other day. When complete, post finished playblasts to your blog. Watch video to that shows how to create a Playblast below.

How to create a Playblast

An Introduction to Autodesk Maya

Objective:
Develop a solid understanding of the core features available in Maya and learn its User Interface (UI) and how to navigate within the three-dimensional space.

Method:
Use the “Getting Started with Maya” Unit using the Spartan Videos shared with you in google drive. These videos will help you discern the Maya UI and gain an understanding of how to navigate the space, create projects, and perform functions using some of Maya’s core tools.

Turn In:
Use the snipping tool to captures images of you working along with the video. Explain what you have learned while following along with the tutorial. Minimum of 4 to 6 complete and coherent sentences.

12 Principles of Animation

Objective:

The student will review and apply the 12 Principles of Animation.

Method:

Work through teacher led discussion to identify and act out the 12 principles of animation.

Turn In:

The students will take notes and create a blog post. 

Create a new post on your blog that contains a definition, video example, and explanation of how the video clip you chose represents each of the 12 principles of animation.

Animation 2: Quarter 1 Project

Objective:
Learn how to tell a compelling story with a simple character. This project is a culmination of mostly all that you have learned so far.

Method:
Using an app that you feel the most comfortable with, you are to create a animation of your own creation while adhering to the design cycle and the production process.

Turn In:
You will turn in weekly updates of your progress that illustrates your progress and ability to meet a deadline. These updates should fit the production process seen above. They will include a synopsis, a production calendar or timeline, storyboard, screenshots showing progress, and the final render.

All projects are due by October 8th.

Hard Surface Modeling-Low Poly Building

Objective:

Continue working on developing your modeling skills in Maya.

Method:

Use the Pluralsight videos to master the proper steps in modeling a basic low-poly building. This will be an exercise in developing and adding onto the skills that you attained in the last tutorial. We will also begin discussing modeling in this tutorial. Make sure to download the exercise files.

Turn In:

Post progress snips to your blog every Wednesday and Friday as you work through the videos. Make sure to write brief descriptions for each post that contains which steps, techniques, and tools that you utilized that day.
